He also bowls right-arm medium pace. Alley, now 48, was born in Sydney and he played for New South Wales from 1945-46 to 1947-48 before coming to England, where he layed Lancashire League cricket. He made his debut for Somerset and was capped by the county in His 2,761 runs and 10 centuries for Somerset in 1961 set new records. In that year, his best so far, Alley totalled 3,019 runs (average 56.96).
